White Religion is Xenophobic
I am a member of an eclectic religious group. We believe that all the religions of the world contain elements of truth. For a while our group has wanted to incorporate White spirituality into our practices, because we find their religion to be so simple and pure and life-affirming. I found a book of White religious chants, so that’s good. The problem came when we wanted to get some White religious paraphernalia to use during our practices. I found a shop in a White neighborhood that sells this sort of stuff, but they would not sell us any communion wafers or priest collars and they claimed they didn’t even have any pope hats or pope staves. We tried to explain that we are honoring their beliefs, but they pretended not to understand. I wish White people wouldn’t be so possessive and clannish about these things.
